Information when you browse

Our hosting and security systems may process your IP address, requested page, browser information, request time and technical error information to deliver the site, diagnose problems and protect it from abuse. Browsing the public articles does not require an account.

Messages and comments

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to include. Email is handled through Gmail and its service providers. Please do not send sensitive travel documents. If comments are enabled on an article, WordPress collects the comment form information, IP address and browser information for moderation. Your approved comment and display name may appear publicly; your email address is not displayed with it.

Cookies and site functions

WordPress uses cookies for administrator sign-in, security and preferences. If an optional comment-cookie choice is offered, it can remember the name, email and website entered for future comments. You can manage or delete cookies in your browser, although blocking essential cookies can affect sign-in functionality.

Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics was previously configured through Google Site Kit. Visitor tracking from that integration is currently paused while consent arrangements are reviewed. Pausing tracking does not automatically delete information previously collected by Google.

AdSense advertising is not enabled as part of this design update. If Google advertising is enabled later, Google and other advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers to deliver, measure and, where permitted, personalize ads. Required notices and consent controls must be in place before those services are activated. For visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, Google requires a Google-certified consent management platform for the applicable advertising setup. A general cookie notice is not a substitute.

Other websites and service providers

Our hosting, security and email providers process information needed to operate their services. Providers may process information outside your country. Links take you to websites with their own privacy practices. If an article includes third-party embedded content, loading or interacting with it may disclose technical information to that provider and allow it to use its own cookies.

Retention and requests

We retain information as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, site security, handling correspondence and applicable legal obligations. WordPress comments and their metadata may remain until removed. Administrator account information remains while the account is maintained. Contact us to ask about access, correction or deletion of personal data associated with you. The rights available and any exceptions depend on applicable law; we may need to verify a request before acting.

We will revise this page when our practices change. This website is a general-audience travel publication and is not designed to solicit personal information from children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, please contact us.
